About us
Thea Berger travelled to Accra, Ghana, as a Swiss volunteer in 2022. When she spent some time on the ground working with the children, she noticed that many children did not have access to swimming lessons. This is especially dangerous as Accra is on the coast and many children play on the beaches. In addition, many financially disadvantaged children do not have access to extracurricular activities and therefore often end up on the streets at an early age.
As a passionate swimmer and swimming teacher, Thea decided that she wanted to work with local activists to find a solution and so the Aqua'aba foundation was born.

We are very happy to be able to work with local swimming coaches. It is important for the sustainable success of the Aqua'aba activities that the programme and all the offers are supported and accepted by the local people. With our activities, we also want to enable children and young people to work as swimming coaches later on, if they wish. For this, it is important that the local team knows the children as well as the circumstances. With Edem and Louis we found a great match for our Aqua'aba foundation.
